The Acropolis of Athens is the best known acropolis (high city) in Greece. The Acropolis is a flat-topped rock which rises 150 metres (512 feet) above sea level in the city of Athens, Greece. Four of the greatest monuments of classical Greek art are: the Parthenon (438 BC), the Erechtheion (420 BC), the Temple of Athena Nike (420 BC), and the Propylaea (432 BC). It illustrates the civilizations, myths and religions that flourished in Greece over a period of more than 1,000 years.
