In 1248, the construction of the Cathedral was already started. This Gothic masterpiece took place in several stages and was not completed until 1880. Over seven centuries, it showed a powerful testimony to the strength and persistence of Christian belief in medieval and modern Europe.

With 144 metres long, 86 metres wide and 157-metre-tall spires, it stands on a flat-topped hill that is has not been just a place of worship to God, but also as a national Prussian symbol.
