Schonbrunn has been the residence of the Habsburg Emperors during From the 18th century to 1918.

The palace was designed by architects Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach and Nicolaus Pacassi. It was then later chosen as the main residence by the Empress Maria Theresia. It is Baroque and rococo ensemble and matched perfectly with Versailles.
